The Department of Mechanical Engineering, abbreviated as DME, is renowned and well-established having highly qualified faculty, an elegant and modern infrastructure, well-equipped laboratories, and allied academic facilities. Our programme is the first mechanical engineering programme in any public or private institute in Pakistan which was established by a team of multi-disciplined faculty combining the strength of aerospace and mechanical engineering.

The department offers undergraduate and graduate education in mechanical engineering to prepare engineers to effectively contribute towards the social and economic well-being of the nation and the society at large.

Keeping in view the contemporary industry demands, DME has adopted three main streams for its Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering programme:
• Solid Mechanics and Design
• Thermo-fluids, and
• Manufacturing

Our graduate programme offers the ultimate challenge in original research to enable our scholars to address issues at the cutting edge of technology. The department has a large number of highly qualified and competent faculty members to guide our Masters scholars effectively.

The Master’s in Mechanical Engineering programme offers specializations in two streams:
• Design Engineering, and
• Thermofluids

DME is focused on creating graduates who will go on to become leaders in their chosen field and help contribute to society. To further enrich the learning experience of our students the department has hosted international conferences and various workshops on topics related to mechanical and aerospace engineering with the intent to bring awareness of the latest technological advancements and engineering innovations.

Our highly trained faculty is also continuously working on research projects and has successfully undertaken and completed various funded projects related to industry and other research organizations.
