Library Service Hours

Monday to Friday ---------------------- 09.00 am to 05.00 pm

(Friday Prayer Break: 1:00 am to 02:30 pm) Library will remain closed on public holidays.

Membership

Members is provided to:

  • Faculty (including visiting)
  • Students
  • Administrative Staff/University employees
  • Paid Member
  • Members of Board of Governors

University ID card will be used as library membership card and is needed for borrowing material and entry. Members are fully responsible for all material on loan. Change of contact information (address and telephone number) must be reported to the librarian immediately. Membership is non-transferable.

Loan Privilege for Books

Following categories of members shall observe the loan schedule mentioned against each:

Teaching faculty members -------------------------- 8 books for 30 days

All others----------------------------------------- 4 books for 14 days

Terms of Loan

Information material of the following nature shall not be issued but consulted in the library:

  • Works marked REFERENCE/RESERVED such as books encyclopedias, dictionaries, atlases, etc.
  • Current issues of periodicals and newspapers
  • Unprocessed/under process material
  • Theses, student's project/ research reports, pamphlets
  • Non-printed material other than received as allied material
  • Works other than mentioned above may be issued on recommendation of Dean/Chair Department in temporarily loan category (i.e. for 2/3 hours)

Renewal

  • Loan may be got renewed for further thirty/fourteen days provided no other user has reserved it.
  • Overdue material will not be reissued.
  • If borrowed material is urgently required in the library, it may be called back.
  • Librarian may withhold/ restrict circulation of any material.
  • Books currently cannot be reissued on telephone/ by email.

Fines

Overdue Fines

  • Books and other information material/items borrowed from AUKL must be returned within the due date.
  • If items are not returned within the due date a fine will be charged as per following:

 

  • Regular loan Rs. 20 per day
  • Temporary loan Rs. 50 per hour

 

  • One month after due date, rate of daily fine will be doubled for the next one month. After that, item will be declared lost and current price of the books/item will be charged in addition to the overdue charges.
  • The amount of the fine will be billed to the regular Student through fee bill. Students of final semester, graduating students and drop outs will be charged at the time of clearance.
  • Library member is to apply in writing to the librarian for waive off fine clearly stating the reason.
  • In case of employees, fine deduction is made at source.
  1. Loss of books

 

  • If borrowed material is damaged, destroyed or lost, borrower will be asked to deposit a replacement or a fine which may be up to three times of the actual cost of the material.
  • In case an item or book which is part of a set, is lost or damaged, the borrower will make payment for the complete set.
  • If a book declared lost (for the purpose of fine) is produced by the borrower after fine is charged, 50% of the amount may be excused by the Librarian.
  • Membership will be ceased if fine amount exceeds Rs 2000/-

General

  • Complete silence must be observed in the library.
  • University ID card is used as library membership card.
  • Presentation of ID card is a must to avail lending services.
  • Membership is not transferable.
  • The member is responsible to take care of any material borrowed on his/her card.
  • Change of University ID no/ address/telephone no/e-mail address must be reported to the librarian immediately on [email protected].
  • Member must leave their personal belongings outside the library entrance.
  • Member may be asked to submit any book or other object for scrutiny on demand.
  • In case any personal reading material has to be taken inside the library, permission must be sought from library staff.
  • All reading material issued to members is to be shown to the staff at library exit before leaving.
  • Members must keep their mobile phones on silent mode within library premises. For attending phone calls, members have to go outside the Library.
  • Tearing out of pages or damaging of reading material or furniture, etc is strictly prohibited. The responsible person may be charged fine up to three times of the actual cost of the item.
  • Eating, sleeping, smoking and loud conversation within library premises is not permitted. The member may be asked to leave the library premises in such a case.
  • Library member should make his/her own arrangement for carrying books, etc to and from the library.
  • The Librarian is authorized to revoke library facilities of any member who is found misusing the library material or facilities.
  • The library shall not receive any telephone call or mails or messages on behalf of any reader/member.
  • The library accepts no responsibility for loss, theft or damage to personal property in the library at any time.
  • Students are not allowed to use library telephone.
  • Books and other material checked out by any other member can be requested to be put on reservation. On receiving the material back library will inform the requester to collect the same. Reservation is considered cancelled if reserved items is not collected within two working days.
  • Borrower is responsible for the safe return of all borrowed material to the library.
  • IP address based campus wide access is available to the full text contents of HEC National Digital Library. This access is available on Wi-Fi as well outside the campus to post graduate students ONLY. Misuse of this facility is strictly prohibited.
  • Photocopy facility is available in the library only for official purposes. However, photocopying facilities are available in 1st floor Room number 78.
  • Self-service based scanning facility is also available in the library and library members are entertained on first come first serve basis.
  • CDs available with books etc, are entertained as allied material and are issuable.
